What kind of meat are you advertising?

Recently I wrote an email to the Chief Marketing Officer of CKE (Carl's Jr. and Hardee's restaurants). I have been disturbed by the sexual commercials being produced recently, and I just wanted him to know my concerns. 

 

(P.S. if you look up the commercials, be aware they are very sexual in nature.)

Mr. Haley,

I would like to respectfully make you aware of my thoughts concerning the recent Carl’s Jr. commercials I have seen. However, before I express my opinion, I would like to mention that I have been to Carl’s Jr. many times and I enjoy the food there. My experiences with the service and food quality have always been commendable. With that said, I would now like to explain why I now avoid going to Carl’s Jr. when looking for a quick bite to eat.

The explicit sexual nature of the recent commercials has made me disappointed and a little sick to the stomach. The low cut clothing and sexual gestures that expose the women in these advertisements is simply unnecessary. I personally do not view movies with such content in them, so I would appreciate not having me and my family exposed to these types of advertisements on television. Carl’s Jr. restaurants have typically been a family friendly place for me to go, but the recent commercials would suggest otherwise. I understand that advertising in a company is crucial for success. I would just hope a more family friendly way to accomplish your goal could be used since a portion of your market is youth of many ages.

As a woman, soon-to-be mother of a daughter, and a wife, I do not agree with the objectification of women and I will not support Carl’s Jr. in the use of women’s bodies to appeal to society. Our families and our women, especially our young women, deserve more respect. Please focus more on advertising your good quality food and service rather than displaying women’s sexuality. Thank you for your time.
