The T.V. Nanny

So we watched 3 little boys ages 5 months, 3 years, and 4 years this past week for 4 days. It was surprisingly hard to not just turn on the T.V. for them while I did other things. I realized how hard it was to get ready in the morning and how much relief a little movie can bring. I am going to have to be careful as a parent to not fall to the T.V. for a nanny. Even in the car they always wanted the DVD player on and sometimes I just had to say no. These kids are inundated with media! It is everywhere! It is way more in their faces than it was when I was growing up. They know how to use our iPad and phones and want to play with them all the time. They are great little boys and so good. But they just loved the media. If I could distract them with something else they would play for a long time. It was just about taking the time and using the energy to distract them with something else to do. It was truly eye opening for me!
